Take it easy
Yesterday afternoon Theo came to visit me at my parent’s house. It was good to have some interaction with the outside world, and to see a few pics of the Derby party she attended. I attended the Derby in person two years ago (yes when the Queen was in attendance!), so I have a new found appreciation for watching the race and celebrating with a Mint Julep.
Other than Theo’s visit,...

Heeling process
Back to the meds! I had to take another half a percoset in the middle of the night and another half this morning. I tried to tough it out last night, but after being awake for an hour and a half in the wee hours of the morning, I caved. Once the knee settles down from all the surgery trauma, it starts to naturally heel. The blood starts flowing and the swelling goes down. Result = drawing...

Say 'No!' to drugs
Last night I took what will hopefully be my last pill — half of a percoset. I really hate how the drugs make me feel so if the pain is minimal and tolerable, I refuse to take the drugs. I was feeling like crap last night - headache, ears needed to pop, and just out of it. Today I’m feeling a lot better so I’ll stick with tylenol from here on out (as needed of course). I wish I...

Another day...another nap
I’ve pretty much slept again all day. I’ve reduced my dosage to one percoset every four hours. I’m feeling a little more pain, but I hate feeling out of it and like my ears need to pop so it’s a trade off. These drugs make me 1) sleepy, 2) not hungry, and 3) drink lots of water (and as a result, make me get up to use the facilities every couple of hours).
In the few...

First post post-op
Hello there. I’m finally able to keep my eyes open for more than ten minutes so I’ve decided to write my first post post-op :)
Let me start with yesterday and move on to how I’m feeling today. Yesterday my surgery was at 11AM. I was not allowed to eat anything past midnight the night before which was definitely a task; for anyone that knows me, I get a little cranky when...

"Catch you on the flip side!"
Tomorrow is the big day! I appropriately titled this post from one of my all-time favorite movies. (5 points if you can name the movie)
Last night I went to my gym for the last time (I won’t give the name of the place but I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t offer me anything to stay). I went with the intention of putting my membership on hold, but things developed from there. ...

2 days!
This post will be short and sweet. The time has come…surgery is 2 days away! My knee is kinda tired after walking around the city a bit in flip flops on Saturday night. I would not recommend it, but it was so HOT this weekend and my feet needed to breathe. Anyway, I’m going to hit up the gym one last time tonight, then putting my membership on hold for a month. I will post a...

new theme!
As I’ve stated in my brief “about me” section of this blog, I’m a numbers nerd. And to show my appreciation for nerds around the world, I’ve downloaded a new HTML theme — graph paper style! Yes kids - go back to your geometry class or mechanical engineering class days and break out the graph paper!
As for my left knee, things are great! Range of motion is...

under the weather
I’m not feeling very well today…just sick, which doesn’t happen often, but I hate it. Anyway, I’m working on and off from home today and just found this great article on Top 10 Things to Know before having ACL repair surgery. I particularly like #10 on the list: Show off your scars with pride!
Countdown: 1 week remaining!

hard to relate
I never thought I’d post more than one entry in a day, but alas here is my 2nd post of the day…a very long day at work to say the least. So I’ve been talking to my friend Jill a lot about knee injuries over the last few months. In talking to her, I have realized it’s really difficult for people outside of the knee injury world to understand what exactly you are going...

and rainy days are no fun either!
Yesterday my right knee was fine, but now that it’s been two days in a row of rain, more rain, and yes more rain, my right knee is ACHY! Yes, my right knee, not my left (yet). I feel like I’m 25 going on 75! (sidenote: 13 going on 30, is a GREAT movie! haha). That achy, sore feeling that I get in my right knee when the barometer drops is not something I’m looking forward to...

the sidelines are no fun!
To my readers (all 3 of you), sitting on the sidelines is not fun! Yesterday I watched my soccer team lose 2-1 in the state cup. I wanted to play sooo bad! It was a gorgeous day for outdoor soccer! But alas, I sat on the bench and yelled/cheered for my team. (At least I got some color :) )
On another note, I haven’t been using my crutches since Friday. Just walking a little slower, but...

Friday progress report
Now this is a story all about how my Life got flipped turned upside down And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there I’ll tell you how I become the queen of tearing ACLs…
I’m a little giddy today with the nice weather. Anyway, I had my pre-op physical this morning. It went well and was easy breezy as expected. Checked my height, weight, temperature, blood...

Just kidding
I called my doctor’s office this morning to find out the time of my operation since the hospital didn’t know when they called me last week. Turns out my surgery is not really scheduled yet. ARG! It could be as early as Wednesday next week or as late as the following Wednesday, the 29th. Guess I’ll keep riding the bike and doing those leg exercises.

Calm before the storm
Quick update…last night I rode the bike at my apartment complex “gym” since I didn’t feel like driving to my regular gym (which is only another 2 minutes away but requires walking up stairs, which adds time). Anyway, my knee was feeling really good. I was able to use the full length mirrors to check out my range of motion when laying on my stomach, and it was rocking! ...
